Terms & Conditions
These terms and conditions apply to the Light Novel - Story Reader app (hereafter referred to as "Application") developed by Not A Simple Studio ("Service Provider") as a free service.
Nature of the Service — A Reading Tool Only
The Application is a reading utility. It does not include, publish, sell, or distribute any books, novels, chapters, or other reading material. Its only purpose is to display content that you choose to open with it, in two ways:
- Local EPUB files that you already have on your own device or in your own cloud storage; and
- Web URLs that you enter yourself, which the Application fetches directly from the third-party website you specified and renders in a reader-friendly layout.
The Service Provider does not host, store, cache on any server, index, curate, upload, or otherwise make available any content. The Application ships with no content catalog. Everything you read comes either from a file you supply or from a third-party website you point the Application at. Any content that appears in the Application is retrieved on demand by your own device and stored, if at all, only in local storage on your device.
The Service Provider has no relationship with, control over, or responsibility for any third-party website you choose to import from, and does not review, endorse, or verify the material available there.
Your Responsibility for Imported Content
You are solely responsible for the content you import into, open in, or read with the Application. By using the Application you represent and warrant that:
- You own the content, have a valid licence to it, or it is otherwise lawful for you to access and read it in your jurisdiction;
- Your importing and reading of the content does not infringe any copyright, trademark, privacy, or other right of any third party;
- You will not use the Application to access, reproduce, or distribute pirated, unlawful, or otherwise infringing material; and
- You will comply with the terms of service of any third-party website whose URL you enter into the Application.
The Service Provider accepts no liability for the content you choose to import, for its legality or accuracy, or for any consequence of your accessing it. If you are unsure whether you are permitted to read a particular file or website, do not import it.
By downloading or using the Application, you agree to be bound by these terms. You are not allowed to copy, modify, or extract the source code of the Application. All intellectual property rights in the Application remain with the Service Provider. This covers the Application's software and interface only — it does not extend to any content you import, which remains the property of its respective rights holders.
The Service Provider may update, change, or discontinue parts of the Application without prior notice. Any new charges for services will be made clear to the user.
Your data may be processed and stored as part of using the Application. You are responsible for maintaining your device's security. Jailbreaking or rooting your device is not advised as it may affect performance or security.
The Application may use third-party services, each with its own terms and conditions:
The Application requires an internet connection. The Service Provider is not responsible for performance issues caused by lack of connection or mobile data limits. You are responsible for any data charges incurred during use.
The Service Provider does not guarantee uninterrupted access or accuracy of information from third-party sources. Updates may be required to continue using the Application.
DMCA Policy
We respect the intellectual property rights of others and expect our users to do the same.
Because the Application hosts no content of its own, allegedly infringing material is not stored on our servers — it resides on the third-party website that a user pointed the Application at, or in a file on that user's own device. A takedown notice is therefore most effective when sent to the operator or hosting provider of the source website. Removing the material at its source removes it from the Application as well.
That said, if you believe that a source accessible through the Application infringes your copyright, you may send us a DMCA notice and we will, where technically possible, block that source within the Application. Your notice must include the following:
- Your full name and contact information (email and/or phone number).
- A description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed.
- The URL of the allegedly infringing source website or material.
- A statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner or the law.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf.
- Your electronic or physical signature.
Send all notices to: contacts.simplestudio@gmail.com
We will promptly investigate and, where a source is found to be in violation of copyright law, block it within the Application and where appropriate terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly import infringing material. Repeated or unfounded notices may result in the suspension of future claims.
